Part fourteen: No sleep...

Soon, I had enough of standing there in the hallway, where I'm open to attack from too many directions. So I went back inside the room, and closed the door. I was looking for something, that I can put in front of the door, so I hear it, if someone or something opens the door. I know, it doesn't really need to come through the door, in order to get in the room. “Huh... I can't find anything... I know! A plant will do.“ So I removed a plant from the corner, and put it in front of the door. If the door opens, the pot will be knocked over, thus making noise, that will hopefully be enough to wake me up. I jumped back to bed, and prayed once more, then I turned on my right side, and waited for sleep to come... There was no noise of movement, or the sound of anything else at all, but still, I couldn't sleep... My thoughts poured down from great height, like heavy rain, landing on the rocks of my faith, and sanity. Soon, they formed a stream, and turned into a river, then to an ocean. Their flow was chaotic, with only one rule, they all faded away, and were replaced by new ones. “What if...“ and “Why?“ came back over and over, with different endings, and continuations. Time passed... -silence- the weak sound of, what seemed to be two people walking down the hallway, has reached my ears. A mans deep voice asked: “Are you sure, that there was nothing wrong with the fuse?“ The answering voice was also a mans voice, but it wasn't so deep. It said: “Look, Victor, I double checked the entire fuse box, and there was nothing wrong with it. Besides, its three am, who would be stupid enough to mess around with the fuses this late?...“ I've heard the last part, accompanied by their footsteps, loud and clear, as they were passing by my door. The first voice said: “Haha! See? Told you, someone turned the switch.“ yeah, right... more like 'something'. They probably turned the hallway lights back on, and went further down the hallway. The sound of their footsteps were fading... I was tired, but sleep just wouldn't come...
